Welcome back to the Her Fertility podcast. In this episode, we are going to take a deep dive into the energy behind PCOS and this is a really special episode in this Fertility Journey series because if you have PCOS, then you know the frustration that comes with that diagnosis and the uncertainty around not having a regular cycle and really trying to figure it all out. And while we are getting a lot more data around PCOS, there's still a lot unknown.
And so in this episode, we're going to unpack that experience together. I'm going to give you some new perspectives around the energy of PCOS and how it's living in the body so that you can see this in a new light. stands for polycystic ovarian syndrome, and it is a pretty common hormonal disorder in women. One in 10 women are diagnosed with PCOS in the United States, and while PC Om S has different symptoms, at its core, the body is overproducing.
Androgens, which is a hormone, but typically a male hormone. And the body is not releasing an egg during ovulation. And there is typically a presence of cysts on the ovaries that can be seen in an ultrasound, and it's typically those cysts that are part of the prevention of releasing an egg during ovulation.
And when you're not releasing an egg during ovulation, then you're not having a complete cycle. And so many women with PCOS have irregular cycles. maybe you have, a few periods a year, or you just have different lengths between your cycles. And this is part of the frustration around A-P-C-O-S diagnosis because.
It is not something you can anticipate or predict. And often when working with your provider, you're waiting, get your period before you take next steps, but you don't know when that's gonna be because you have PCOS. And so other symptoms that you might experience with PCOS are weight gain, acne, excessive body hair.
but it is important to note that not all women experience those symptoms or any of those symptoms, and so it's really important that you work with your practitioner to get A-P-C-O-S diagnosis before you move forward. Treating something because irregular periods could be the result of something else, not just PCOS.
And so there is information around how to support the body through PCOS. You can work with your practitioner around that. there is a relationship between PCOS and insulin where managing your glucose levels becomes really important for your body when you have PCOS, And should be provided by your practitioner in this episode, we're gonna talk about the energetics of PCOS because this is a really large, missing piece of the puzzle for a lot of women, and I wanna unpack this with you so that if you are living in that. You know, really frustrated space of this diagnosis that you have a new perspective to view it from.
so here at Her Fertility support, I support your body, your mind, and your energy. Because we know that we are energy bodies, we have energy flowing through us. This is why, when a heart stops beating, we shock it back into beating because there has to be energy in the system for it to work and beat it.
This is what an MRI machine measures, right? Like the energy moving through your body, and largely what other disciplines outside of Western medicine tap into. And so pulling from traditional Chinese medicines, the use of like acupuncture system, Ayurveda and Reiki healing, I'm going to give you a new perspective on how energy's moving in the body when you have PCOS PCOS is a condition where the ovaries are being impacted and energetically speaking, this is your reproductive center, but it's also your personal power center. So just below at the very base of your spine is your root or your foundation, and that's where you have the power of community.
So how you see yourself in a community with other people like this is why things like, you know, obviously family, but um, like sports teams and clubs are so. Popular because we as human beings identify in community, like in a tribe. And when we can find commonality with others, we feel a sense of belonging.
And that's at the root or the base of your energy center. Going one up from that is the personal power energy center. And this is really your space of who you are in the world, there's nobody else like you. And it's your sense of who you are, your relationship with yourself, but also then who you are in relationship to other individuals.
So individual relationships like your partner. Or the individual relationship you have with your mom or your dad or your best friend or whoever who you are bringing into that relationship is coming out of this energy center. And there is a lot at play here, energetically speaking, that can get a. Cloudy because especially today in as of recording this video, there is a lot around who we are in the world and who we think we should be with the rise of social media and really putting ourselves out in, into the world on a screen and for really anybody to see.
There's a lot of attention that wasn't always there around who we are or who we're trying. To be so if you can stay with me in this lane if we think about PCOS being the ovaries, not being able to function or express in the way that they would normally or otherwise without PCOS, it is the body communicating that there's something misaligned or not in alignment with something that's being expressed in you.
It said another way, PCOS is the body's way of communicating with you. That there's an energy of your personal power that's, either being overworked, overtaxed, or used in ways that aren't aligned for you. And this is unique of course, to every person. Every person is their own person.
What your likes and dislikes are are different from what my likes and dislikes are, and I think that is such a beautiful thing about humanity. We all have something that's unique about us and that we can contribute to the world, right? To make this world a better place. But when it comes to our relationship with ourself and who we are, sometimes that energy isn't fully expressed or aligned, and that's where.
It gets stuck or stagnant or blocked or whatever word you wanna use and the body is responding to that. There are some really cool books around how the body manifests energy that's stuck in it. one is Anatomy of the Spirit by Carolyn Mace. Another is the Body Keeps the Score, which we've talked about on this podcast we can all understand just in, you know, the day-to-day rhythm of life. Like when we feel a certain way, our body responds. So if you see someone who's feeling sad, they're physically gonna look a different way from somebody who feels really happy. And this is just a physiological response to an emotion.
And so if we, you know, over time, if the energy of your personal power over time, this isn't something that happens overnight, right? This is like little drops in a bucket where over time that bucket is gonna fill up with water, but it's not overnight. And if over time your personal power is being not true to who you are, if you are people pleasing, if you are trying to make everybody else happy around you, but you, or if you are like me and when I say something like you have your own likes and dislikes and you don't even know what your likes are, then this.
Is a new perspective for you to understand and I share that because me, about four years ago, I remember I saw a post and it was like, what do you do for fun? Or something about hobbies. and it really hit me and I was like, well, I don't, I don't have any hobbies. Like I don't know what I do for fun.
I do things throughout my day. My day is full of things to do. But are any of them things I'm choosing because I have fun doing them? No. And it led me on this path of personal, self discovery where I was like, wow, what does bring me joy? What do I do like to do for fun? And a lot of this, of course.
As most things do stems from my childhood, but in adulthood I now have the power to choose what brings me joy and what I want to do with that. And so if you are at all like me and you're hearing this and you're like, yeah, I don't, I don't know what brings me joy. I don't necessarily have a hobby that I like to do.
There's nothing wrong with that. And this isn't a judgment. It's not saying that you are more or less because of that. It's just that you are human. And as humans, like when we understand that first level of energy where we are relating to a community and a tribe and we wanna fit in and belong, sometimes that energy takes over or bleeds up into the personal power center and we lose ourselves because we never really discovered.
What it was or who we are. We never really like took the time to ask ourselves, what do I like? Maybe you learned people pleasing habits or you found that it was easier to get along with things and people when you were. Pleasing. Right? all of this is to offer you a new perspective around your PCOS diagnosis, which is a really frustrating diagnosis to have, especially when you wanna get pregnant.
And I've had the honor of supporting people one-on-one and also inside the fertility frequency collective with the energy around this because it can feel really frustrating and really like an attack on, on you. Some of the members inside the collective will say, you know, it just feels like my body isn't doing what it was designed to do, and I feel so disconnected from like, what makes me female and feminine.
And so if that's you there, there is nothing wrong with you. Your body does want to. Do its thing, right? Like it does want to ovulate. It is trying. And when we can see this new perspective around the energy of PCOS, we can stop self sabotaging and self guilting ourselves and start stepping into ways that we can find our personal power again.
And this is why the tools inside the Fertility Frequency Collective are so powerful because the members coming in are finding ways to say yes to themselves for maybe the first time ever, and to give themselves, you know, the 5, 10, 12 minutes of an audio that's gonna support their nervous system and their mind.
And it feels like they're finally saying yes to them. And if that's you. I so hope that you find some ways to start saying yes to you and consider joining the Fertility Frequency Collective, which is my collection of resources for you if you are navigating infertility. PCOS or just wanna get pregnant.
It is a collection of resources designed specifically for this experience, and it is the opportunity for you to say yes to yourself for just $29, which is awesome. as you continue to move forward. And I love this because it's not asking you to. Like choose this over that, right? Like, yes, you wanna keep working with your doctor, and yes, you wanna keep doing what's best for your body and finding ways to support your physical body while also energetically supporting yourself.
and if you do have PCOS and you do want to get pregnant, you can absolutely do that. PCOS is not the end of the road for you. It is possible. There's just some stuff we gotta figure out in the meantime 'cause your body is trying to tell you that's something is not aligned through, in your case.
